Quantum Fun

At the time of my Quantum of the Seas cruise, I had cruised about 18 times before.  I've been on large ships and small ships alike. And, as a cruiser, I'm always comparing.  Before I book a cruise, I do a lot of research on the ship that I will calling home for a few days.  This particular time, it was 11 days, so I wanted to make the right choice.   I want to forewarn you that this is not a full Quantum of the Seas review.  Here, I will tell you about a few things that make the Quantum stand out on my FUN RADAR.

So, let's begin. Quantum was a fairly new ship, so I was prepared for that.  In the early reviews, there were several complaints about the new technology.  The Quantum was introduced as one of the newest and most innovated ships of its time.  The Quantum offered wristbands for use as your room key and cruise account. Check in was a breeze and the wristbands were ready and waiting on our beds when we arrived.  Shortly after unpacking, we went to the buffet and then explored the ship.

Bumper Cars!

Yes, bumper cars on a cruise ship. This cruise came with skydiving, bumper cars, fly on trapeze circus school, wave runner surfing, rock climbing wall and the London-eye inspired North Star, extending 300 feet above the sea.  There's also an indoor sports zone appropriately called the SeaPlex with a full size basketball court, roller skating, DJ booth, a circus school and first ever at sea - bumper cars. The activity rooms offer more fun, like table tennis and other games, plus amazing sea views.  And just when you thought you the kids (or husband) way from the game station.....this ships offers an XBOX Live section where cruisers can play with gamers worldwide.

The Dining Experience

There are four main dining rooms plus a number of casual dining areas that provide enough options to suit most tastes, from American comfort food to Asian fusion, sandwiches, pastries and pizza. While reservations are not required, they are recommended for the four main restaurants. You can make dining reservations ahead of your cruise online on the Royal Caribbean site or  once you get on board via the ship's Royal iQ service. This process was the most talked about on my pre-cruise review searches.  Most cruises were used to having their dinning room set and ready.  I will say that this was a bit of a task for us as well since I had to pre-plan our dinner schedule weeks in advance when I had no idea what I would be in the mood for and how the time zone differences each day would play into my desire to have dinner.  With the exception of The Grande, the dress code is casual. The quality  in the four main dinning rooms were delectable.  However, the food at The Grande was heavenly.

A Broadway Experience at Sea & a Theater to See

The Royal Theater is home to two grand shows onboard the Quantum. Get ready for a the full production of "Mamma Mia!," featuring Abba's greatest hits. There wasn't an empty seat in theater as everyone clapped and swayed to the beautiful vocals and this jaw dropping performance, Sharing the Royal Theater is Sonic Odyssey, created by 2013 "America's Got Talent" contestant William Close.
